hi today, we're looking at how to size up your canoe paddle now if you can new regularly and you always use your paddle you pretty much know what length it is however, if you're looking at new paddles or something with a different blade shape, could be slightly different now if you're in the shop and you're looking for a paddle with a straight shaft it's quite easy we sit you down on a bench sit you up nice and tall we put the t piece between your legs and the top of your forehead should meet the point where the blade meets the shaft of the paddle so for me with this one it's a 56 inch however, if i was to be looking at a beaver tail compared to a standard shape blade, where the blade is slightly longer then it's exactly the same so again t piece between your legs your forehead should meet the point where the blade meets the shaft so for me for beaver tail i'll be looking towards a 60 inch puddle so something a little bit bigger now if you're using a bench shaft so something where the blade kicks forward off the shaft you measure it slightly differently t piece goes between your legs and this time where the blade meets the shaft should be at the tip of your nose so for me with a bench shaft we'll be looking at a 52 inch paddle so quite a variety between the different shapes of paddle now i know what you're thinking i'm sitting at home how do i know which size blade to order well lucky for you there is another option so what you do sit down on a bench sit up nice and tall grab a tape measure measure from the bench between your legs up to the tip of your nose, then use this magic size chart over here whether you use in a straight shaft or bent shaft and select your paddle size from there we're also going to put that down in the description of the video, so you can scroll down and look at that and get the right pedal size there you go it's not difficult, so get measuring get the right pedal size。
