hahaha, never function welcome back a beautiful people punctures are like a thorn in the side of every cyclist, but us mount bikers are way more proned they're gonna puncture on the trail yes, blake there are thorns sharp pointy, rocks and square edges littered all over the trail waiting to deflate you which is no good so don't worry sit back because we've got our top tips to help you never get a puncture again hopefully ever ever ever this first tip is one of the most important ones and that is converting to tubeless now if you're one of those old school riders that like to run an image tube within the tire take them out throw them away because there's a lot of benefits to running a tubeless system on your mountain bike why because you can run lower tire pressures gain a lot more grip out there on the trail and also when you come to a thorny situation thorn is gonna pierce your tire at sealant within it is gonna clog it up seal it, but if you had an inner tube inside it you're gonna have to stop repair it put it back in his all time we don't want to waste time on the trail we want all that time for shredden so converting to tubeless it's probably one of the most important ones and it's going to help eliminate game punctures, but never say never because if you do slice your tire unsealable that sealant's gonna fly everywhere and when i say chuck away that inner tube i mean chuck it into a strap and strap it to your bike or put it in a fanny pack or your backpack just in case you slice the tire speaking of sealant when was the last last time you checked yours that's in your tire over time it does dry out and reduces its effectiveness now because of that every now and again it'll say on the manufacturer's bottle depending who you use, but it's well worth looking inside the tire and seeing just how much is in there and whether or not it has dried out another great way of checking just how much sealant is still in your tire if you put enough in or if it has dried up is you can actually take the valve core out of the valve here dip a really thin zip tie in through there when it's down at the bottom obviously so all the sealants sitting at the bottom and by knowing that pulling it back out like a dipstick on a car you'll see just how much sealant is in there if it comes out with nothing on it well, then you know that you're gonna need to top it up or it's potentially dried out if it comes back and it's still nice and fresh and wet on there well, then you're good to go if it is dried up well, then you can add sealant directly through the valve core itself sometimes a bit fiddly and messy or if you want just crack the bead of the tire off on one side and top it up that way it's really easy to pour it in then like i said as for how much it depends on your size tires your size wheels you've got as well, but like said the manufacturer's bot will often give you a rough guideline on how much to put in there the question is what type of tire are you running on your rig now if you find yourself running a lot of rough rocky trails with a lightweight cross country tire you probably find that you're puncturing more often now it's probably worth upgrading to a heavier duty tire bit like an enduro or a downhill casing tire now when you're upgrade to a heavier tire like an enduro or a downhill casing one you'll find that the tires are a lot heavier the side walls are a lot thicker there's a lot more rubber there to prevent the slashes and getting punctures on the sharp rocks, but before you pull the trigger and purchasing a enduro or a downhill casing tire you just gonna consider that they are gonna be a lot heavier so if you're riding rough rocky trails then maybe upgrading is a good option, but if you find that you're riding nice single tracks and there's a little bit of rock there, but not too much then a trail tire is gonna be the one for you because it's gonna be a lighter and you don't need that much protection oh would you look at that i tell you what another option is the foam insert now look at this trail it is littered with all these mega pointy horrible rocks a foam insert essentially a layer of foam or it could be a ring that you put inside your tire that helps cushion any impact and hopefully stops either ding in your rim or putting a hole in the tire as well, so when you come across and hit this real pointy edge of that the impact is absorbed by that insert hopefully avoiding punctures there's a couple of the great options of inserts as well one they can let you run lower tire pressures because you've got that security of something in there, where the tire is not gonna suddenly blow all the way through and hit the rim so that's obviously a real good bonus also you can use an inter in conjunction with lighter weight tire so maybe a slightly thinner sidewall that way you've got the added protection of the insert, but you've got the weight saving of the tire finally line choice finding the smooth line through a rough section can help prevent you giving a puncture yep try to unwake the bike rather than clattering through these really rough sections with these pointy rocks where punctures are almost imminent and you might even find it helps you ride a bit quicker as well, there we have it then some of our top tips to never get a puncture again hopefully never ever get a puncture ever again no let us know in the comments below if you got any other great top tips for not getting a puncture that's good going but never say never remember to carry spares yes, thank you very much for watching everyone and we'll catch you next time yeah should we go for a dip and that does look nice doesn't it yeah oh, oh, what's that?
