让我们开始今天的访谈吧! hi, james, welcome thank you alan, it's great to see you again and you and i have been french for a few years now and so nice to be back in beijing again and that's your lovely beautiful first class studios here thank you so much it's my real honor to have such a great friend as you and it's such a privilege to have you here with us thank you thank you thank you well you are trying to get back to china and to beijing especially several times every month for the last five or six years so i usually use beijing as my home base and from there i run out to other cities and come back doing a variety of different things yeah i do anything from international study abroad programs for chinese youth who want to go to america and study at high school universities we do the basketball training of the retired nba players so bring into retired players here in china or bringing the students over to america and having been training over there and then also variety of other projects in program that we stay busy with so i would love love coming to china and doing all these things you're doing so many good things at the same time yeah and you know just now and all the audience we just watched the intro video of you very, very, very, very impressive in that video we see that we saw that you played basketball with michael jordan and the magic johnson yes, well can you in those times that were like superstars kings of nba absolutely can you tell us what it was like well playing basketball with them you know when you play against the best it makes you play even better and the competition that you just want to go out there and play as well as you can in that video i'm also playing against carb alone, so when you saw me came across and dumped the ball i was dumping the ball on carb along so you know but during the years i played i played from 1980 to 1996 those were probably the very best year ever for nba basketball yeah, no doubt i remember in those years that was very little i just started playing basketball yeah you will like nba play with us you will like superstars which i tried on so so hard to imitate every move you you you make it was super cool that's right that's right and several years ago the nba put out a list of the all time 50 greatest nba players ever and in my years that i played in va i played against about 37 of those fifty players so from korea my bill, jabar, magic, johnson, larry bird, michael jordan, carl malone, john stopping, charles bartley, patrick ewing the list goes on and on and on of all these super super star players that i played against and also i have a chance to play with at one point in my career carmelon and john stockton with my teammates well with the utah jazz so we had a great team with them and a great time to play together with some of the super super star players i mean you will you will the one of the superstars as well, i know you will you will also got in introduced to the all star team yeah and we know it's like every basketball players dream yeah to be able to play basketball that's right and it's even harder to to be selected on the spot of the all starting as you accomplish books, well, thank you, thank you what a huge achievement you have made well just just making it to the mba you're amongst the best but when you make it to the all start team for one day you are the best of the best of the best yeah, yeah, yeah could you tell us how? how how did you and you see this? how did you achieve? those a great achievement well, you have to continue playing and performing at a very high level and so that year before they all start games that i played in 1988 i had a very very very good year playing with the dallas mavericks you see with the photos in the back and so you know i'm scoring a lot of points i'm getting a lot of rebounds we're having a very very good team and a good year and so i was selected by coaches and the fans to play in the all star game in chicago chicago stadium oh the windy city, the windy city, yes and of course this is when the chicago bulls were the very best ah, yes, yes, michael jordan! oh, yeah, yeah! michael jordan was the nvp yes of that all star game cargo great excellent and also in from nineteen field goal percent zero points are six three seven which is still one of the best parts percentage percentage in nba is still that's right that's right well, i'm amongst the top 10 or 15 players all time with the field go percentage and because when i tried to take a shot i always had to make the shot and playing being the big guy in the big strong center in the middle playing close to the basket, my shots were always going to be close to the basket in the orals from the dunk ball and i remember that year that i won the filgo championship i competed against other skill more artist skill more was just as big as me seventy, two two other eighty pounds big big strong man and every year he would he would lead to league into a better citizen so that year it was he and i going at him after one, after another, after another some games i would make eight on ten shots some games he would make nine out of ten shots and so it was very very close to us it was very close throughout the whole season until the final games how fun how fun and interesting and impressive that was well you talk about pressure you can't have a bad night you go out there and go two for ten because your statistically reverted you have to make sure you make your shots wow good good good that is really much i think we shall we need to learn from you yeah do you mind sharing some maybe like the secrets like how nba players were trained yeah, yeah, yeah well first of all they have a they have a deep passion and desire inside to be the very best uh huh many of the players that starts from and they're just a little voice on the playground i'm sorry playing all day long and wanting to be the very best and then and then of course you know the nba players are big those go strong men they play they play fast they play hard and then jump they can run they can do everything many people say basketball players are the best all around athletes because we are big strong fast oh everything that you want in the next everything on it's part of you like that you have to be the best so it all comes together at one package and you can be a great basketball player but it takes more than that it takes good coaching by some great coaches it takes good mentoring and have somebody who can teach you and show you the way of how to be a great professional player and then of course it takes a little bit of luck of course to be on some very good teams that have a chance to win the championship we have a saying is like the love goes to or always goes to the prepared ones right you have to be the prepared one you have to work extra hard really really hard yes, i know that that many chinese own is familiar with the kobe ever made mission kobe is like cold we used to always get up very early in the morning at four o'clock in the morning we started practicing um a basketball yeah the same with all the indian players same same thing you see the guys play every single day all summer during the off season i used to play a game at the game hour after hour every day not only basketball but also lifting weights to get strong running on the track outside of the stadium so even though when we couldn't see on the arena called you are exercising yes, i can get ready for the next game all you see on the court is the finished product but the work that goes into making that product you don't see yeah, yeah and this is the many many years of practice and training and hours every day to be the best yes, yes and then on top of that it still takes a little bit of luck to be in the right place at the right time you know there are a lot of great nba play who never won championship game never carvalon never won charles barking never won patrick yuri never won john stockton yami never wants an nba championship yeah and he was on the very best players see so there are many players who never have a chance to win because you have to be good and be right place by time a great team great coach everything comes together at once in the end add a little bit of the luck maybe just a little bit of luck i always think it's a little bit of luck also very good that's my career, but i encourage young people who want to be either a great amateur player or university player or professional to really continue pushing yourself to be the best you to be believing yourself you can be the best you have to you have to and you never know how good you're gonna be until you push yourself to the maximum yeah i agree with that yeah when we had to go to training camp before the nba season we had to run very very fast on the track and this was a requirement and so i was running faster than i've ever run in my life with a couple of training care because i want to make the team right yes, yes but before i never thought i could run that fast but when the coach tells you hey, this is the time i want you to run this fast do it so your potential really surprised yourself you surprised yourself yeah yeah if you really push yourself to the limit that's right and that's the key to anything and like the one the difference between success and failure is those who are successful pushed themselves just a little bit perfect just a little bit every time a little bit further many times later that a little bit further becomes a big that be forward be different they would make a big difference because it's easy to give up oh, yeah you're tired when you first grade it when you don't play well you don't feel well, it's easy to give up but professionals never give up yes, we keep going you're a professional you don't you don't give up thank you you keep going you don't stop i learned it from you i think you needed this like a spirit actually learned from from a successful end of the player like you yeah never give up being what you're doing you can't believe in yourself push yourself to the limit and the end product you're surprised yourself in the end。
